A DAY IN OUR PLAYGROUP

9am

DOORS OPEN, children come in, hang up coats and SELF REGISTER before free flowing between child lead and adult lead activities of their choice.


9.30am

DOORS OPENED again for those children starting at the later time.


9.50am

  • CARPET TIME (takes place simultaneously in both rooms) to confirm register, sing morning song, discuss topic, day of week, before returning to free flowing between the different activity areas (includes free flowing outside during the warmer months)
  • Language & Listening groups (Key group) daily as per rota
  • Language Group (for those children needing additional support with language development) Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Fridays

10am

SNACK BAR OPENS, (in the Butterfly room) with children choosing when they wish to take a snack break. (Children are encouraged to be independent and help themselves from a selection of healthy food items, that take into account children’s individual dietary needs and family wishes, and to pour their own drinks)


11am

TIDY-UP TIME all children are encouraged to work together to tidy away resources. (This timing is flexible depending on whether children are free flowing outside or as per winter months children go outside as a group)


11.05am

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES [during colder periods when children go outside as a group)


11.30am

CARPET TIME for a story in key groups and /or group singing, Twiggle Time (for those children in the butterfly room) rota followed by the GOOD-BYE SONG.


12noon

CHILDREN CAN LEAVE, ARRIVE OR STAY FOR LUNCH.


12.30pm

ALL REMAINING CHILDREN LEAVE. (Monday, Wednesday and Fridays)


12.30pm

CHILDREN CAN LEAVE/ STAY AFTER LUNCH OR ARRIVE FOR THE AFTERNOON SESSION. Tuesdays and Thursdays only


12.50pm

FREE FLOW between the different activity areas.


 1.45pm

TIDY-UP TIME all children are encouraged to work together to tidy away resources.


2pm

SNACK


2.15pm

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES. (Children go outside as a group)


2.45pm

CARPET TIME for a story and /or singing session, followed by the GOOD-BYE SONG.


 3pm

CHILDREN LEAVE.


Our daily routine forms part of our short-term plans and is flexible to enable us to plan enhancement activities and experiences and to respond to opportunities for spontaneous learning.
